About Angelina +
the Passion Behind AEC
Hi! My name is Angelina (as you've probably figured out by now) and I am the proud face behind Aloe Esthetics Co. One of the first things you'll learn about me, whether it's from reading this or meeting me in person, is that I find beauty in not just honesty within myself, but vulnerability. I take full pride in my ability to create a safe space for all, and to hold no judgements no matter the case. Because at the end of the day... we're all humans who deal with all the same things, right?
So, here's how my relationship with skincare began:
Not good. I hadn't always planned on becoming an Esthetician, or skincare expert of any sort for that matter. As a competitive dancer growing up, I always had a love for doing makeup and hair. And as a teenage girl, I struggled with confidence (like most of us can still relate to). So, what really sparked my interest in all things beauty related, was the feeling of pure confidence that not only dance provided, but the confidence that was boosted through the beautification aspect of it.
When I was a sophomore in high school, I was put on the birth control shot for a multitude of reasons that I was sure it would magically fix. It definitely affected me negatively: physically, mentally, and emotionally, but I held out for about two years until I was out of a long-term unhealthy relationship, which also negatively affected me in those same ways.
At this point, I expected to feel great. But I didn't. I was given no real guidance on how to heal my body after being on birth control, so I began seeing all the symptoms of hormone imbalance. Things like: High cortisol that allowed me no sleep at night along with intense cravings for sugar, anxiety that stopped me from enjoying the simple things, and inflammation that caused me many issues, including... acne. Lots of acne.
Finally, after about two more years of dealing with the consequences of these imbalances and being told to "just get back on birth control," I discovered a Holistic Chiropractor who listened to my concerns and told me they weren't just going to treat my symptoms... but find and treat the root cause of it all instead.
Today, my health is more balanced than it has ever been. And after so much time, money, and frustration spent on doctor visits, dermatologist visits, and ineffective acne solutions, my skin is clear.
Those few years sucked. But I am so grateful for them, as they are the reason I do what I do today. Because if I hadn't experienced the absolute confidence drain which my severe acne caused, I wouldn't have felt the desire to learn and understand the science behind skin and the disorders within it. And now, as I am entering my fourth year in the skincare industry, I can say with full transparency that I have only become more passionate and eager to learn more, not only to continue my journey in skincare, but to heal you and your skin better, faster, and more effectively. Additionally, I know what it's like to feel the toll that anything can take on the mind and body. Which is why my passions of dance, yoga, and meditation have allowed me to understand the importance of emotional release, in any shape or form. Obviously, I can't make someone tap dance their emotions away (although that would be fantastic), but I can create a space that allows me to guide them there through massage, relaxation, and intention. Which is exactly what I did.
And is exactly why I will always reiterate that Aloe Esthetics Co isn't just about skincare, it's about self-care. And I would love nothing more than to share my passion of both, with you.
